Ooooh, we have excerpts available for two upcoming books by two of my favorite authors!

Fantasy in Death by J.D. Robb, Book #37 in the In Death series

Release Date: February 23, 2010

In the latest novel from #1 New York Times-bestselling author J.D. Robb, it is game over for the criminals pursued by NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas.

Bart Minnock, founder of the computer-gaming giant U-Play, enters his private playroom, and eagerly can’t wait to lose himself in an imaginary world, to play the role of a sword-wielding warrior king, in his company’s latest top-secret project, Fantastical.

The next morning, he is found in the same locked room, in a pool of blood, his head separated from his body. It is the most puzzling case Eve Dallas has ever faced, and it is not a game. . . .

NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas is having as much trouble figuring out how Bart Minnock was murdered as who did the murdering. The victim’s girlfriend seems sincerely grief-stricken, and his quirky-but-brilliant partners at U-Play appear equally shocked. No one seemed to have a prob lem with the enthusiastic, high-spirited millionaire. Of course, success can attract jealousy, and gaming, like any business, has its fierce rivalries and dirty tricks-as Eve’s husband, Roarke, one of U- Play’s competitors, knows well. But Minnock was not naive, and quite capable of fighting back in the real world as well as the virtual one.

Eve and her team are about to enter the next level of police work, in a world where fantasy is the ultimate seduction-and the price of defeat is death. . . .

In a previous post, I had mentioned that Karen Rose’s next release is Silent Scream, due out in June 2010, and featuring David Hunter and Olivia Sutherland. According to Amazon.com, the release date is a week before that. Sweet! However, Amazon shows the book will be release in mass market paperback which surprises me since I thought Karen Rose’s new releases are available only in hardback first. Oh well, we’ll see. Hardback or paperback, I’ll still be pre-ordering the book! Lol. There is no book cover available yet on Amazon’s site but Amazon (UK) has one available and a slightly different excerpt. I’m posting both excerpts up!

Silent Scream by Karen Rose

Release Date: May 25, 2010

Four college students believed they were making a statement. They were activists, fighting to preserve the environment by burning down a new apartment complex. But they didn’t realize that someone was watching. A blackmailer hides in plain sight, using people’s secrets for personal gain, and when this criminal sets his sights on the four young arsonists, he begins his most deadly game yet.

Firefighter David Hunter is devastated when he’s too late to save a teenage girl from a Minneapolis fire. Authorities soon discover that it was a case of arson and homicide detective Olivia Sutherland and her partner Kane are assigned to the case. David and Olivia shared a night of passion some time ago, and sparks fly when they are drawn to one another again. But just as they begin to revisit that fateful night and address the events that tore them apart, David and Olivia are forced to pursue the blackmailer, whose horrific plans threaten to destroy those closest to them.

Release Date: May 13, 2010

The brilliant new novel from the incomparable Karen Rose, in which an arson leads to murder and blackmail, and a desperate search for those responsible.

Four college kids set fire to a supposedly empty condominium block. But when they see the young girl at an upper-floor window desperately banging on the glass, clawing to get out, they realise their mistake. Although they don’t all agree, the group leave the girl to her certain death, little realising that someone is there, watching their every move. Someone who has a nasty habit of blackmail and sees an opportunity for profit which is far greater than any they have ever had before.

For local fire fighter David Hunter, getting the blaze under control is hard enough, but when he finds the girl’s body he realises that this arson attack has become a murder case and the homicide cops are immediately called in. Now, as David works with the cops, it’s a race to find the arsonists, and the blackmailer, before events escalate out of all control.
