Wendy the Super Librarian had blogged about Teeny Hard Covers… not too long ago. One of the skinny books mentioned was Ice by Linda Howard. I expected the book to be thin at only 208 pages but it still took me by surprise when I saw it. If only I checked the page count before I made my purchase which I thought I got at a deal during the 3 for $33 promotional sale from my book club. What bites even more? Ice is even skinnier than the Nora Roberts trade size hardbacks that were released by Harlequin for the Hidden Gems collection! And I think they were slightly less expensive too!

Ohhhh, Tabitha! See, I read that post by Wendy and I’m waiting for the Balogh — I really want it. But let me tell you, that looks so dang small. I was going to send for mine, but I might just go to the bookstore first and take a look at it BEFORE I buy it. I’m still on the fence about it. 😦

You’re a Balogh fan huh? I would recommend checking it out first before you buy it.
I’m a long time fan of Linda Howard but if I had seen this book first, I think I would wait for the paperback format. It is as short as one anthology story…or not even!

If the ARC of the Balogh is anything to go by, the final product is going to be very slim. Probably comparable to what the Linda Howard looks like.
I don’t always make the time to wander down to our cataloging department and it’s been a while since I’ve been in bookstore. I hadn’t seen Ice with my own eyes yet. But….wow. Teeny.

I’m definitely a Balogh fan Tabz… I even posted a spotlight on this book back in October *sigh*… thanks for posting this picture and thank you for information Wendy.
I definitely don’t think I’ll fork out the bucks for such a tiny book. I don’t mind paying that much for a HC, but there has to be little more than that to it. 😦

I remember the good old days when I could say
that I would spend $5.99 on a 600 page book. For a long time I would use the penny a page rule. Otherwise it was not worth buying. Well things sure have changed. I can handle books at $9.99 & even $10.99 but they better have at least 350 – 400 pages. Otherwise I’ll wait till I have coupons or I check out the USB. There’s lots of books out there & I can wait.

I like the penny a page rule but it’s more like two cents per page these days…if we’re lucky! lol

Personally, length is not an issue if the story is good. When the story is not good, then length and price become very bitter factors ^_^;
